A Life no Less

Al Graham is a 21-year-old man with a passion for rugby league (the Eels), V8 cars, and music by the band Low (feat T-Pain). He has three older sisters and is an adored uncle.

Al had an inclusive education at his local primary and high school and recently moved out of home to his own rental unit and will soon launch his online gift-buying business.

He continues to work in the disability advocacy space by sharing his life story of inclusion. He recently spoke at the Department of Education’s Deputy Principals’ Conference on Inclusion.

Al has a rare genetic condition called GNAO1, which results in physical disabilities.

Hear from Penny Graham, mother of Al and Project Officer – Inclusion with Lifestart. She will share how she helped Al run with the pack by:

  • Envisioning an ordinary life for Al with similar experiences to that of his three older sisters
  • Prioritising her time and energy for creative opportunities for inclusion
  • Finding collaborative working opportunities in Al’s community to see Al do the same as everyone else.

In The Good Life series, you will hear from parents of adult children with disability, who will reflect on the early years and the steps they took to build a good life for their child and family.
