About Kindred
Kindred is a family-led, independent, not-for-profit organisation supporting parents and carers raising children with developmental delay, disability and autism across New South Wales. Through free online programs and peer groups, trusted resources, and supportive community, we empower over 5,000 parents and carers each year to build the skills, knowledge, and confidence to help their child and family to thrive.
Kindred’s purpose is to provide essential support for families early in their journey enabling them to live their best lives and discover a future full of possibility. Since our establishment in 2019, Kindred has grown rapidly, becoming a trusted support for families and a trusted referral partner to organisations and professionals working with children with disability.
Responsibilities
As a Board Member, you will:
- Help guide Kindred’s strategic direction and growth.
- Ensure financial and fiduciary responsibilities are met.
- Attend and actively participate in board meetings and relevant discussions.
- Stay informed about board matters and provide input on key documents.
- Represent Kindred to key stakeholders and promote our mission in the broader community.
Who We’re Looking For
- Previous board experience is preferred but not essential.
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: government relations/policy, research, legal.
- Lived experience of disability or as a parent or family member of a child with a disability is preferred but not essential.
Location
Based in NSW, preferably in Sydney or can travel to Sydney for meetings.
Time Commitment
- The board meets virtually six times per year.
- Additional involvement may include committee meetings, CEO consultations, organisational events, and stakeholder/funder meetings.
- This is a voluntary position.
