Frequently Asked Questions

Who can work with us?

Parents, caregivers or family members of children with disability or delays and medical needs.

Your child could be in the early years or adulthood. What’s most important to us, is that you share our values.

How much time do I have to give?

We have a range of opportunities available. It could be that you write a one-off resource or an article each term. In the case of facilitation, you would take part in training and then deliver either a one-off workshop or a series of events.

Given the breadth of our programs, we would aim to agree on a mutually beneficial level of commitment that works around your family’s needs and the time you have available.

What skills and experience do I need?

Lived experience of parenting or caring for a child with disability; it’s this knowledge and wisdom you will draw upon when working with Kindred.

We encourage applications from people with and without experience in facilitating and presenting. For copy and content writing, you may have professional writing experience or personal experience in writing articles for a personal blog or another website.

What training will I be given?

Training is provided for all work opportunities – what it looks like will depend on the role and your experience level. It could be general facilitation training or training to deliver a specific program or workshop. Or training in understanding our brand voice and values. We also provide ongoing support.

I have a special skill to offer - can I volunteer too?

Absolutely! From time to time, people come forward to offer their professional skills or expertise to support our cause. In the past, we have benefited from the pro-bono help of web writers, lawyers, marketers, business analysts, dietitians, video producers, fundraisers, trainers and facilitators to name. If you have a particular skill or expertise and want to volunteer, get in touch with Stacey Touma, CEO at stacey@kindred.org.au.

I’ve expressed my interest, what happens next?

You will be contacted by the Kindred team within a week of submitting your interest.
